Restorations

Under the leadership of master craftsman Morrie Zahner, the Better Sounds Australia team can fully restore a wide range of musical instruments.

Morrie and his team's restoration success stories are many and varied, ranging from saxophones that have been backed over by small trucks, to brand new instruments with faults from the factory, and to old horns that have simply seen better days.

Most restorations are driven by a budget.  Our restoration team are happy to discuss the options for a restoration project.  The level of restoration can be customised to suit the instrument and the budget, including simply returning the instrument to playable condition, through to a dent removal and tidy-up, all the way to a full disassemble and return to former glory.

Some of the restoration services offered are:

  • Invisible dent removal
  • Instrument re-plating, preparation, and re-lacquering (using modern or vintage techniques)
  • Electroplating in silver, copper, gold and nickel, plating key work, instrument bodies, and worn spots
  • Precision valve realignments and resizing
  • Custom restorations
  • Addition of triggers and condensation valves
  • Partial to complete repads
  • Feature colouring (red, blue, green, and others)

We restore and improve the value of all Brass, Woodwind and Stringed instruments. No job is too big or too small.
